Amnesty International is a worldwide voluntary movement of people who campaign for human rights. We are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion.
Our vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.
The Cirencester Group has been active since 1984. Our activities include:
- Campaigning to protect people wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied. We do this primarily by writing letters.
- Raising money for research into human rights. We do this primarily by selling second-hand book, flag days and other events e.g. quiz nights, concerts.
- Informing ourselves about human rights. We alternate monthly Campaign Action meetings with meetings where we invite speakers, show videos or organise letter writing evenings.
