Cirencester Dance Club

In its 11th year, the Club's foundations are built on a history of training pupils in the graceful Russian style of Classical Ballet , with classes spanning the entire age range from 3 to adults including boys. The club continues to develop, with the emphasis on participation and enjoyment for its members and not just for attainment of examination passes and medals.

The club offers classes in Classical Ballet, Tap and Theatre Dance; senior grade members also become involved in backstage production, helping with scenery, lighting, music and costume manufacturing, thus discovering and developing their skills and forming a sound basis for a possible career in the industry.

In 2007, in recognition of its contribution and value to the community, the Club was granted charitable status. As a non-profit making organisation its aim is to help young people build their confidence and gain self-respect and discipline. The Club is governed by a Committee of elected members, the majority of whom are parents or pupils.

All classes, rehearsals, exams* and performances are held at Bingham Hall, King Street, Cirencester GL7 1JT. Classes begin with the Pre-Primary group ages 3-5; the remaining groups are decided by previous dancing experience and examinations already taken. Boys' classes are designed to build stamina and control, in preparation for pas de deux work. No dancing experience is necessary for the Adult class, although most members have some form of dance awareness.

Regulated by the National Association of Teachers of Dancing.
