Residents in Gloucestershire who wish to provide help are being asked to visit the Gloucestershire Action for Refugees And Asylum Seekers (GARAS) website at www.garas.org.uk.
GARAS is a charity which provides support to refugees in the county. Adele Owen, director of GARAS, said: “A number of people have offered rooms in their homes to refugees, but this is unlikely to work in practice as the logistics of the system are quite complex. Instead we would advise them to take a look at the GARAS website for other practical ways in which they can help and to email us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with their details. Whilst we are a small charity, we have the relevant expertise and are the ideal first point of contact at this time to cover refugee relocation issues. Financial donations would be especially welcome too.”
