Cirencester Christmas Spectacular

  • Barn Theatre Cirencester (map)

After the incredible response to last year's show, the Cirencester Christmas Spectacular is back and bigger than ever.  The theatrical variety show will be held on the 22nd December, featuring West-End stars rubbing shoulders with amazing local talent.

This year's new stars include lead performers from The Phantom Of The Opera, The Grinning Man (Bristol Old Vic), Jersey Boys, Les Miserables, and Calamity Jane.

All profits will be donated to charity. Last year's beneficiaries were the performing arts department of The National Star school.

The Spectacular will be held this year in The Barn Theatre, which is currently undergoing a huge refurbishment.

Past performers include Christopher Jacobsen (Jesus Christ Superstar, youngest ever Jean Valjean in Les Miserables), Jonny Fines (The Sound Of Music, Avenue Q), Olivia Brereton (The Phantom Of The Opera), the students of StageSmart (The Wizard Of Oz), Cirencester Male Voice Choir, and popular local band Plucking Different.

Producing the show is former West End actor Iwan Lewis.

"Last year's Spectacular was an overwhelming success. We brought together the whole Cirencester community to a festive treat of music and theatrics, and almost immediately after the concert people were looking forward to the next one.

"The work that's being done at the Barn Theatre is some of the most exciting theatrical development in the country. Even though the whole complex hasn't been completed, we feel our audience should get a sneak peek of the professional standard The Barn will have to offer. Our guest performers are possibly the biggest assortment of West End talent that you will see outside of London.

"All that aside, it's the stars of tomorrow that excite me the most. Having founded StageSmart almost 2 years ago, our young performers are really beginning to blossom. They're going to blow your socks off."

The performance will punctuate an all-day Christmas Market, packed full of festive attractions, held in Ingleside House & gardens next to The Barn Theatre. Entry to the Christmas Market will be free.

Tickets will be available soon from stagesmart.co.uk/spectacular2016 and Cirencester Visitor Information Centre 01285 654180
