Cirencester Theatre Company (originally Stratton Drama Group) are delighted to be performing Brassed Off at The Sundial Theatre on the 21st and 22nd June at 7:30 pm.
"We are collaborating with Cirencester Band for this production so expect some wonderful rousing brass music during the performance. A Yorkshire mining town is suffering the throes of the Thatcher recession. The mine is threatened with total shutdown, which would also put an end to the Grimley Colliery Band, a brass ensemble as old as the century-old mines. The arrival of Flugelhorn player Gloria Mullins brings a renewed sense of hope and a touch of romance. Meanwhile bandleader Danny Ormondroyd continues to encourage the band to continue in the national competition but frictions and pressures are all too evident. This is a tale of community spirit and triumph in the face of adversity."
