Market Place - Ring the Change

We've just gone live with our first ever crowdfunding project!

Cirencester Town Council has the opportunity to relocate and refurbish an unused and decommissioned telephone box. This is an exciting opportunity to incorporate much-loved heritage into Cirencester's Market Place, as a destination feature for community use and/or a tourist/visitor purpose. To enable this initiative to happen the Council have launched a Crowdfunding project.

The Town Council would arrange the relocation and refurbishment of the phone box, ideas for future use include in the summer, a selfie destination for locals and tourists, incorporating information which promotes our incredible history, individual food, independent shops and inspirational events, as well as awareness of climate issues. In the winter months, it could be used to meet local needs, such as a food bank, incorporating information about how to find shelter and access mental health and well-being support.

What we'll deliver:

• Relocate an unused and unloved red telephone box

• Refurbish and make fit for purpose

• Promote the telephone box as a destination for the community and visitors

Our project will promote the changing face of the high street in a positive way, creating a destination focal point which will generate interest and footfall through the Market Place, supporting the local economy. It could include information for local visitors and tourists as well as an opportunity to raise awareness of climate issues, for example. In the winter months the project could meet a community need, for example a food bank for those in need and living on the street; it could include access to health and well being information for the wider public.
