Consultation and Engagement

We use the Commonplace platform for public consultation and engagement. In 2024, over 3,300 people visited the ‘Cirencester Town’ portal. https://cirencestertown.commonplace.is/

The Annual Town Survey in 2024, with over 300 responses identified that the public’s satisfaction rating in us was over 60% with 67% either agreeing or stating somewhat, that the Town Council provided value for money.

In addition, we engaged with over 130 young people as part of a youth survey.

Most recently we consulted on the proposed budget for 2025-26; this helps to assess the amount of council tax needed to support local services and projects. We asked the public to rank various projects in order of importance, the top 3 being: provision of public toilets, improving facilities in the Abbey Grounds, and improved accessible play spaces. Where we are proposing to increase expenditure, the public were most supportive of investing in our markets and events, as well as addressing risk of flooding, low water flow and improving biodiversity.

Finally, we asked about the service the public valued most, congratulations on this occasion to our Land and Property Team who were clear favourites.
