Grass Cutting

We are aware that members of the public have raised concerns with local Councillors and the MP about the frequency of grass cutting particularly highway verge. The Land and Property Committee, has recently discussed whether or not the Town Council should take on responsibility for the grass cutting of open spaces which do not fall within the ownership or management responsibility of the Council i.e. highway verge and agreed that officers liaise with the local highways team at Gloucestershire County Council to carry out a review of all amenity land within Cirencester to identify current responsibility and maintenance frequency, which areas need additional cuts for safety reasons (i.e. visibility splays), and which areas of public amenity land are not currently owned or maintained. A report on options and cost implications would be prepared for consideration at a future meeting.
