Scheme of Allowances and Remuneration

We believe in openness and transparency about public money and each year we publish a scheme of allowances and remuneration table which shows the allowances Councillors receive and how much the people we employ are paid.

A basic allowance of £1,257 is paid to each elected Councillor per annum, payable in monthly instalments. In addition, a Special Responsibility Allowance (SRA) of £500 is also be paid to the Mayor of Cirencester.

For those who are employed by the Town Council our entry level is £25k which rises through 4 levels from Foundation to Professional with remuneration bands of between £28K to £87k. Whilst we pay a cost of living increase each year, contractual increments are paid based on satisfactory performance.
