“I’ve lived in Cirencester for 20 years, and my ward for the best part of the 10 years. My children were raised in Cirencester. As part of the local Lib Dem team, I want to make sure our precious green spaces are protected, and our roads are safer for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. I’m also determined to help make all residents feel they are part and have pride in our historic and beautiful town’s vibrant community, and that the increasing number of visitors leave us having had a fantastic experience."

My wife and I moved to Cirencester on our retirement. I ring the church bells at the Parish Church and Watermoor and am a member of Ashcroft Church. I also sing in a local Community Choir. I have served on two Parish Council’s and on a District Council (Woodspring) for 10 years and then the Unitary Authority of North Somerset for 4 years. During the 1990’s I served on the Avon and Somerset Police Authority, the South West Regional Assembly and as a Director of the Western Development Partnership. I am particularly interested in Environmental and Sustainability issues.”Contact:

”I have lived in the Chesterton area since coming to Cirencester with my family in 1991. From an early age I have been a keen historian and so I have a particular love of what Cirencester has to offer its residents. My working life has been in education and so I also realise the need to tackle contemporary issues. I would hope my skill set which has been built up in leading two secondary schools and developing multi-academy trusts would be useful in fulfilling the role of councillor. In retirement I have become involved in a number of local organisations being Vice Chair of Cirencester Primary School, member of the Civic Society and Cirencester Twinning Association and a Trustee of Ashcroft Church. Having a Grandchild who lives locally motivates me to contribute what I can to how to Cirencester continues to develop.”

“I have lived in Cirencester and the surrounding villages since 1985. I was the Youth and Community worker for Cirencester for 19 years. Since my redundancy in 2016 I have worked part time in various jobs including the Bingham Trust and an Education Exclusion unit. I now work part time and this gives me the opportunity to get involved in my local community. In my spare time I am a keen breeder, exhibitor and judge of exhibition budgerigars, a volunteer with Macmillan, and find time for bowls and gardening.”

“I am passionate about championing community causes, and in particular I advocate for young people and families. My aims include making the town centre more baby friendly, improving accessibility in open spaces, and raising up the voices of the residents of Cirencester. I am Jewish, I’m a ‘crunchy’ mum, and I am part of the LGBT+ community. These parts of my life inform how I would like to bring diverse and varied stakeholder voices into the fold of the town council, making Cirencester an even more exciting place to be.”

STRATTON WARD
-
Cllr. Bob Irving
“I’ve lived in ‘my’ ward of Stratton for nearly 30 years, in the same house and my family still live and work in the town. Before retirement, I had a long career in IT, followed by a career change when I became a researcher in energy efficiency in buildings. That lead my late wife and I into making substantial improvements to our house and I now have the ambition to start an insulation project to help others do the same. My main community involvement has been in starting a Repair Café, but I also help organise the Men’s Shed and have run the Friends of the Earth group, including our popular Flea Market.”

“'I’ve lived in Cirencester for almost 30 years, I grew up in Dundee and have made Cirencester my home after coming to work here for a few weeks. After seeing what a fantastic town this is, I made a very quick decision that I was going to stay. I work for Royal Mail as a postman, so I am out and about and see a good bit of this beautiful part of the Cotswolds. This is my first step in to local politics, I've had so much joy from everything that Cirencester Town Council offers to the town, I decided it was time to step up and try to give something back. I volunteer for a few charities in this area, Macmillan, Cancer Research UK (relay for life) and National Foundation for Retired Service Animals, along with fundraising for a few other charities. I can also be found helping out around the Phoenix Festival and the much-loved Phoenix Revue Company pantomime.”
