Children's Workshop : Roman Abacus

  • Corinium Museum Park Street Cirencester, England, GL7 2BN United Kingdom (map)

Make this simple, but fascinating tool and learn how Roman children learned maths.   Hope we can ‘count on’ you to join us!

You may be surprised in this age of technology that devices to make life a little easier have been around for thousands of years.  The abacus is not only practical for counting, but did you know that you can add or subtract complex numbers, and even multiply with this tool?  Your children will have the choice to make a simple device, or the more complex and versatile tool.

Cost: £5.50, £5 member
