Crocus Bulbs in St. Michael's Park
4 000 crocus bulbs, donated by the Cirencester Rotary Club and planted at St. Michael's Park in 2017, are just coming into flower at the park. As well as providing a spectacular display the crocuses carry an important message. They were planted to help promote Rotary International's campaign to finally eradicate Polio from all parts of the world.
The crocus planted, Crocus Ruby Griant, has been chosen for its purple colour which is the same as the dab of ink put on a child's finger to indicate they have been inoculated against Polio.
The Crocus Ruby Giant is an early spring flowering crocus with deep purple colouring and grows to a height of 8 cm.
