Council Update - Town Centre Masterplan

These are challenging times as we seek to respond to the changing face of the high street, the impact of COVID, competition from online shopping and changes to planning legislation enabling change of use from retail to residential; not withstanding how we respond in planning terms to the climate emergency and shape Cirencester for the future, for the better.

Officers at the Town Council continue to support the District Council’s Forward Planning Team in gathering information and reviewing and updating the 2018 Town Centre Health Check Report. This forms part of stage 2 of the process of preparing a town centre masterplan, under the current Local Plan and includes key evidential issues about parking, public transport, walking and cycling, archaeology and projected change in town centre uses.
