Bingham House – Did you know?
Cirencester Town Council is a tenant of Bingham House and our lease with the Bingham Library Trust expires on 31st December 2026. We need to explore if the building is fit for purpose, for our needs in the long term, particularly considering local government reorganisation. Also, did you know, the Town Council has a Service Level Agreement with the Bingham Library Trust for the provision of facilities, administration, and management services, which expires on 31st March 2027; this arrangement is to be reviewed by our Leadership Group to ensure moving forward it is right for both parties.
Bingham House is an important building, it was a community hub of its day in the early 1900’s, a legacy of Daniel George Bingham.
As part of the Service Level Agreement and our tenancy of Bingham House, we will be supporting the Bingham Library Trust by undertaking a feasibility study and costing of a full refurbishment of the building, to ensure it is fit for purpose and eco-sustainable as a community building of the future.
