Talk - Lido and open-air pools

  • The Ashcroft Centre Ashcroft Road Cirencester, England, GL7 1RA United Kingdom (map)

Jeremy will provide a general introduction to the history of open-air-pools and lidos in Britain including the open-air pool in Cirencester. Cirencester’s natural spring fed pool was originally opened in 1869, and then taken over by the local council in 1908. Cirencester’s pool along with others provided novel experimental landscapes that blossomed after the First World War. Jeremy an independent heritage consultant, is a member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and Hon. Treasurer of the Society for Landscape Studies. More information from this Cirencester Civic Society. website. Visitors welcome - suggested donation £3.00.
