Cirencester’s Bingham Gallery launches permanent exhibition - volunteers needed!
The Daniel Bingham Foundation, the new public facing name for the Bingham Library Trust, is named after its benefactor, Daniel George Bingham, who set up the first Cirencester Public Library in 1905. Since transferring responsibility for library provision to Gloucestershire County Council, The Foundation’s focus has been to collect and curate an extensive collection of paintings, drawings, photographs, ephemera and original documents which reflect Cirencester’s history.
Over the years, we have showcased selected parts of the collection at a Summer exhibition in the Bingham Gallery, housed on the ground floor of Bingham House. This year the Daniel Bingham Foundation is delighted to be launching an inaugural permanent exhibition on the 25th July. We are seeking to enlist a team of enthusiastic volunteers who will become experts in the collection and share their knowledge with members of the public visiting the exhibition.
Can you spare a few hours a week to help steward the exhibition and in turn help us to raise awareness of the amazing artwork and wider collections we look after? If so, please initially email: info@binghamlibrarytrust.org.uk for more information.
The Daniel Bingham Foundation promotes art, archives and local studies material related to Cirencester and the surrounding areas and ensures access for all.
