Local Government Reorganisation – Update
The Government’s consultation on Local Government Reorganisation in Gloucestershire has now closed and a decision on the outcome of future arrangements is expected in July. The Gloucestershire Association of Local Councils has responded on the sectors behalf stating that success will depend on how efficiently it embeds local governance, protects community identity, and enables towns and parishes to operate as equal partners.
On the 26th March our Local Government Reorganisation and Devolution Advisory Group hosted a workshop session and networking event for neighbouring parishes where concerns and opportunities were discussed, and then on 31st March we had an Informal Council meeting at which we considered the appetite for asset and service transfer and views on the proposal to create Neighbourhood Partnerships.
