Workshop - Travel Journal

  • New Brewery Arts Cricklade Street Cirencester, England, GL7 1JH United Kingdom (map)

The hardest part of keeping a regular sketchbook is fitting it into your daily life and routine. Emma started her first travel journal during a week in St Ives, where the colours of the Cornish coast, local food and galleries spill across the pages. She has never stopped. Looking and painting your adventures is the best springboard into visual journaling, while also creating an amazing record of your trip. This two day workshop is an opportunity to immerse yourself in your sketchbook, take away fear of the blank page and receive one to one guidance, while having a wonderful, relaxing get away. On day one you will learn, drawing and painting collections of found objects such as shells, local flora and fauna to create a visual record of a place, without committing to a large scale landscape image and Illustrating food! Meals shared and vibrant ingredients are one of the best parts of travel. On day 2 you will learn the art of small drawn motifs and visual maps, including doors, buildings and curiosities. Focus on studying landscapes in watercolour and other mediums for travel journals. For more information visit www.newbreweryarts.org.uk/travel-journaling-weekend
