Corinium Afternoons: Skate Park Shaman

  • Corinium Museum Park Street Cirencester, England, GL7 United Kingdom (map)

In April 2020, news broke of a Bronze Age burial discovered underneath a suburban skate park in Lechlade, Gloucestershire. The site was excavated by Foundations Archaeology led by archaeologist Andy Hood and the finds were deposited at the Corinium Museum in 2022. The discovery of two individuals interred near to each other led to speculations that one may have been a Chieftain and the other, his ‘Shaman’. The news reached national and international press.
