Community Health and Wellbeing Event – August 15th 2024
Cotswold District Council and Cirencester Town Council are delighted to announce the return of the highly anticipated Community Health and Wellbeing Event. Following on from the exceptional success of the 2022 event, this year's gathering promises to be just as engaging and impactful.
The free event will take place on 15th August 2024, from 10am to 4pm, in the Market Place and Abbey Grounds. It aims to showcase the wide array of services and activities available in and around Cirencester, catering to all ages and abilities and has been part funded by the Cotswold Connected Community Food Fund.
Working in partnership, the Councils have collaborated with numerous local organisations and groups to coordinate this multi-agency day and will feature health and support services, charities, local groups, leisure, activity, and sports clubs, all situated conveniently within our community. Attendees will have the opportunity to receive support, advice, health checks, or simply browse the local offerings.
With an emphasis on self-care, the event will include contributions from both charities and commercial organisations, assisting people in managing various aspects of their lives and providing information and support on healthy lifestyle choices. On-site assessments for blood pressure and diabetes will also be available at the NHS Bus. Visitors can meet volunteers and staff from the Churn Project and other organisations, learn about community support initiatives, and discover how to get involved.
A variety of fun activities are planned, such as arts and crafts, children's play sessions, singing, and nature skills. Charities, support groups, volunteering opportunities, community groups, clubs, and interest groups will all be showcased in the Market Place, along with the chance of participating in personal training sessions.
Sports and leisure groups will be featured both on the Market Place and in the Abbey Grounds. Sportily will be bringing their climbing wall, World Jungle will offer a range of interactive activities as part of their HAF initiative, Freedom Leisure will be present with fitness activities, and Brewery Arts will be hosting crafting sessions.
We invite everyone in the community to join us for a day dedicated to our local youth and health and wellbeing services. Whether you're looking for health advice, want to engage in fun activities, or simply wish to learn more about what Cirencester has to offer, this event has something for everyone.
