The Town Council has responsibility for a significant amount of amenity land around residential areas and open spaces, including sports facilities, allotments, scheduled ancient monuments, nature reserves and play areas.
Emergency Grant Support
The Town Council has recently provided the following emergency grant support to help fund projects which are responding to the cost of living and energy crisis that many are faced with.
Community Arboretum
Cirencester Town Council has sponsored a tree at the Jubilee Community Arboretum at Cirencester Park in memoriam to honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, while creating new parkland for the enjoyment of all. There will be Community Planting Sessions at Cirencester Park on Saturday 18th February, 10am to 3pm.

Winter Emergencies
In the event of a local emergency, such as flooding, Cotswold District Council as the lead authority for responding to emergencies, will contact the Town Council if local support is needed. If you need to report a non-life threatening emergency please do so through Cotswold District Council on 01285 623000.
Town Centre On the Up!
The health of our town centre is often a topic of debate, particularly when there are changes to local parking, road works and vacant shops. We use a wide range of data to monitor the health of the town centre, this includes car parking, mobile data, visits to the Local Information Centre and footfall through the street markets.
Climate Hub
We’re here to connect you to community initiatives that help tackle climate change, fight social inequality and build a sustainable, resilient, future for our town; as part of this initiative we have launched the Climate Hub on our website.
Cotswold Friends Campaign - Connecting Community
A funding pledge totaling £6,000 has been made by Cotswold District Council to the Cotswold Friends charity’s 2022 crowdfunding campaign for its ‘Connecting Community’ project.
Environmental Wellbeing
Cirencester Town Council is active in responding to the Climate Emergency and our environmental wellbeing. We are in the process of Carbon Literacy certification and a Carbon Footprint Assessment.
Social Wellbeing
On Monday the 19th and Tuesday 20th December, between 10am and 4pm, in partnership with the Bingham Library Trust, we are hoping to run a series of creative writing workshops.
Economic Wellbeing
Following the town centre health check which was carried out by Cotswold District Council and Cirencester Town Council in 2021, CDC and CTC are now working with local business representatives from the town centre, Love Lane, the Growth Hub and Chamber of Commerce, along with the Cirencester Community Development Trust to deliver the health check action plan which covers:
Where you live?
Where you live is important, if you live in Cirencester it will be in one of eight wards, served by two Town Councillors, a District Councillor and a County Councillor. Our role as your Town Council is to do what we can to improve the open spaces in and around where you live.

Charity Cotswold Friends need Volunteer Drivers
Cotswold Friends is putting out a plea for volunteer drivers, to support its Community Transport Service. Where people are unable to drive themselves, or find Public Transport difficult to use, Cotswold Friends can help.

Climate Change Action Plan
In 2019, Cirencester Town Council declared a Climate Emergency; this is because the Council acknowledged that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a special report in October 2018 on the subject of ‘Global Warming of 1.5°C’.
Something new in the Market Place!
A traditional red telephone box has landed in the Market Place; a great opportunity for a selfie! Thank you to everyone who helped to fund this initiative through Spacehive Crowdfund Cotswold and for the support of Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council.
Open Day Success
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our recent open day event when we met a prospective candidate who wants to stand for election onto the Town Council, residents and business owners who want to volunteer in the community, several people who want to join our land and property team, a potential student intern and a young person who is looking to establish a creative writing business.
Financial News
In accordance with the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015, Cirencester Town Council has published the notice of conclusion of audit along with the Annual Governance and Accounting statements and the External Audit Report and Certificate for 2021-22
Our commitment to the Community
