The Obelisk Community Rooms
The Town Council has recently entered into a new agreement with the 1st Cirencester Scout Group with a commitment from the Council to improve the facilities at the scout hut; making them more widely available to the local community.
St. Michael's Park - Summer Ready!
Improving local biodiversity and habitats, our Grounds Team have been working hard to prepare St Michael’s Park for the spring and summer with wonderful borders and planters.
No Mow May
The no mow may initiative was started in 2019 by conservation charity Plantlife, which is once again urging people to keep the mower locked up for another month to allow spring plants a chance to set seed before the first cutting, making for healthier, more diverse lawns.
Paternoster School Work Experience
Officers at Cirencester Town Council recently welcomed students from Paternoster School to undertake a week of work experience with us.
Welcome to Baunton Lane
As of April, following a boundary review, residents who live in Baunton Lane, formerly of the parish of Baunton are now residents of the town of Cirencester within the Stratton Ward.
Town Centre Regeneration Scheme
The County Council has recently issued the practical completion certificate for the town centre improvements. All remedial repairs are now complete.
Thistle Park Play Area
The Thistle Park play area improvements are now complete. We would like to thank the children of Chesterton and Four Acres for helping to design the improvements.
Town Centre Improvements
Cotswold District Council is making improvements to the alleyway between Argos and The Salvation Army that connects The Waterloo and Dyer Street.
Cirencester Community Pantry
The first community pantry in Cirencester will open on 3rd March. This is a new member based project bringing neighbours together to help reduce food waste.
Amenity Land and Open Spaces Review
The Town Council has responsibility for a significant amount of amenity land around residential areas and open spaces, including sports facilities, allotments, scheduled ancient monuments, nature reserves and play areas.
Emergency Grant Support
The Town Council has recently provided the following emergency grant support to help fund projects which are responding to the cost of living and energy crisis that many are faced with.
Community Arboretum
Cirencester Town Council has sponsored a tree at the Jubilee Community Arboretum at Cirencester Park in memoriam to honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, while creating new parkland for the enjoyment of all. There will be Community Planting Sessions at Cirencester Park on Saturday 18th February, 10am to 3pm.

2022 has been a busy year for Cirencester’s Neighbourhood Planning Steering Group (NPSG).
Winter Emergencies
In the event of a local emergency, such as flooding, Cotswold District Council as the lead authority for responding to emergencies, will contact the Town Council if local support is needed. If you need to report a non-life threatening emergency please do so through Cotswold District Council on 01285 623000.
Town Centre On the Up!
The health of our town centre is often a topic of debate, particularly when there are changes to local parking, road works and vacant shops. We use a wide range of data to monitor the health of the town centre, this includes car parking, mobile data, visits to the Local Information Centre and footfall through the street markets.
Climate Hub
We’re here to connect you to community initiatives that help tackle climate change, fight social inequality and build a sustainable, resilient, future for our town; as part of this initiative we have launched the Climate Hub on our website.
Cotswold Friends Campaign - Connecting Community
A funding pledge totaling £6,000 has been made by Cotswold District Council to the Cotswold Friends charity’s 2022 crowdfunding campaign for its ‘Connecting Community’ project.
Environmental Wellbeing
Cirencester Town Council is active in responding to the Climate Emergency and our environmental wellbeing. We are in the process of Carbon Literacy certification and a Carbon Footprint Assessment.
Social Wellbeing
On Monday the 19th and Tuesday 20th December, between 10am and 4pm, in partnership with the Bingham Library Trust, we are hoping to run a series of creative writing workshops.
