Cirencester Town Council has recently opened new Changing Places facilities in the Abbey Grounds, adding another valuable amenity to this historic town's green spaces.

The Corinium Hotel and Restaurant has been working together with Cirencester Town Council on an exciting project for summer 2023! Inspired by the Bristol based artist Luke Jerram’s “Play Me I’m Yours” Street Piano Project, Cirencester Market Place will be getting its own piano for the summer months.

We're delighted that both our Cirencester Local Information Centre Team and The Community Services Team (Cirencester Markets) have been shortlisted in the Team of the Year category, sponsored by the The Royal Agricultural University, in the 2023 Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Business Awards!

In 2022, Cirencester Town Council carried out various consultations. This is an important opportunity for the public to provide feedback on the state of the town, what is liked and what can be improved on.

We are launching a community competition across each of the eight wards in Cirencester. Ward Councillors will get to work together in their ward, to promote the competition and engage with the community, encouraging individuals, friends and families, community groups and businesses to participate.

Members of the public have asked us why, after refurbishing the toilets following an arson attack in St Michael’s Park are we now closing them early? The answer is, we continue to be faced with vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to our re-elected Councillors but especially to our newly elected members who have joined the team at CTC, Cllr Naomi Bloomer (St Michael’s Ward), Cllr Christine Gore (Beeches Ward), Cllr Pete Smith (New Mills Ward), Cllr Andrea Pellegram (Four Acres Ward) and Cllr Bob Irving (Stratton Ward).

The Town Council has published an action plan and progress report as it seeks to lead by example with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint as a community.

The Town Council has recently entered into a new agreement with the 1st Cirencester Scout Group with a commitment from the Council to improve the facilities at the scout hut; making them more widely available to the local community.

Improving local biodiversity and habitats, our Grounds Team have been working hard to prepare St Michael’s Park for the spring and summer with wonderful borders and planters.

The no mow may initiative was started in 2019 by conservation charity Plantlife, which is once again urging people to keep the mower locked up for another month to allow spring plants a chance to set seed before the first cutting, making for healthier, more diverse lawns.

Officers at Cirencester Town Council recently welcomed students from Paternoster School to undertake a week of work experience with us.

As of April, following a boundary review, residents who live in Baunton Lane, formerly of the parish of Baunton are now residents of the town of Cirencester within the Stratton Ward.

The County Council has recently issued the practical completion certificate for the town centre improvements. All remedial repairs are now complete.

The Thistle Park play area improvements are now complete. We would like to thank the children of Chesterton and Four Acres for helping to design the improvements.

Cotswold District Council is making improvements to the alleyway between Argos and The Salvation Army that connects The Waterloo and Dyer Street.

The first community pantry in Cirencester will open on 3rd March. This is a new member based project bringing neighbours together to help reduce food waste.
