The Government wants to deliver a two-tier model of local government across England, i.e. principal unitary and town and parish. Over-arching this with combined ‘executive-mayor’ led authorities covering regional areas.
Local Council Tax 2026-27
Cirencester Town Council receives no external funding from the Government, Cotswold District Council or Gloucestershire County Council, it is also restricted from applying for certain grants due to its status as an organisation.

Bingham House – Did you know?
Cirencester Town Council is a tenant of Bingham House and our lease with the Bingham Library Trust expires on 31st December 2026. We need to explore if the building is fit for purpose, for our needs in the long term, particularly considering local government reorganisation.
